Our Story,

Bentxil Studios was founded on 18th September 2016 by Godfred Akoto Bentum, a young university student whose heartbreak unexpectedly became the beginning of an extraordinary journey.

At the time, Godfred had just gone through a painful breakup. Struggling to deal with the emotions, he searched for something that could occupy his mind and help him heal. Deep down, he had always loved filmmaking and storytelling. During vacations in Akim Oda in Ghana’s Eastern Region, he would spend time with his cousin, Cris Shaker, creating short videos simply because he enjoyed acting and visual creativity.

Driven by that passion, Godfred made a bold decision. He sold his iPhone 5s to buy a small camera so he could continue shooting videos with his cousin whenever he returned home from school. The sacrifice was huge, he lived without a phone for 16 months while studying at the university. Many of his classmates could not understand why he made such a decision, especially since the camera mostly stayed hidden away in his locker.

One afternoon, everything changed. Godfred decided to take the camera along to lectures, and a few friends asked him to take some photos of them. He had little knowledge of photography at the time, so he simply captured random moments. To his surprise, the photos turned out beautifully. His friends loved them, went back to his hall to copy the images, and later shared them on Facebook.

The reactions were overwhelming. Friends and strangers flooded the posts with comments, praising the photographs and asking who had taken them. Seeing the impact his work had on people sparked something inside him. What started as a distraction from heartbreak slowly became a purpose. Godfred decided to invest more time, energy, and dedication into photography and visual storytelling.

Years later, that small decision transformed into something far greater than he could ever have imagined. Today, Bentxil Studios stands as one of Africa’s leading creative companies, known for documenting love stories with elegance, emotion, and authenticity. From intimate ceremonies to luxury destination weddings, the company has captured weddings across multiple countries in Africa, preserving timeless memories for couples around the world.

What began from pain became passion, and that passion became a legacy.
